Two completely opposed characters travel the same path: that of a musical journey. One rooted in Elizabethan England and the classical repertoire, the other focused on Broadway and American modernity. Between melodies by Vaughan Williams, Britten, Butterworth or Finzi and forays into music-hall and musical comedy, their trajectories gradually intersect. Central to the program, Songs of Travel becomes the place where they meet: an inner journey where a desire for elsewhere, memories of love and the quest for self are mixed.
Melodies by Vaughan Williams, Holst, Butterworth, Butterworth, Gurney, Finzi, Britten and Sullivan
