Directed by Katarina Livljanić, singer and musicologist, professor at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Dialogos questions our relationship with the past. Since 1997, the ensemble, with variable geometry, has brought together loyal singers and instrumentalists from different backgrounds and countries. Together, they revive the oral and musical traditions of Europe, from the Middle Ages to the present day, with a particular interest in the southern Slavic world. The research work of Katarina Livljanić, at the origin of the Dialogos programs, makes it possible to (re) discover a new repertoire. In a musical language based on medieval sources, between plainsong, traditional melodies and polyphonies, the past is used as a lively, strong and vital material. Great musicianship and contemporary theatricality reveal the timeless beauty of these stories that seem to have stood the test of time.
Dialogos is the guest of the biggest festivals and concert halls around the world: festivals in Boston, Utrecht, Utrecht, Vancouver, Vancouver, Dubrovnik, Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum in Paris, Folle Journée de Nantes... The creativity of musical choices, the quality of the interpretations as well as the reflection that accompanies each new project, have been praised by French and international critics. Dialogos' discographic recordings have won numerous awards, including: Diapason d'Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, 10 by Répertoire, 5 by Goldberg. The CD La Vision by Tondal won the Diapason d'Or in 2004 and the “Coup de Coeur” from the Charles-Cros Academy.
Dialogos receives support from the DRAC Île-de-France - Ministry of Culture. Mécénat Musical Société Générale is the main sponsor of the Ensemble Dialogos. The ensemble was in residence at the Centre Culturel de Rencontre d'Ambronay (2006-2009) and at the Royaumont Foundation (2011-2014).
