Frédéric Chopin composed very few chamber music works. Apart from a few pieces for cello, mainly those dedicated to his friend Auguste Franchomme, the Trio op. 8 is his most important composition in this field. Passionate about the melodies of Italian opera, it is in his Nocturnes that he best transcribes their spirit and lyricism. Franz Schubert's 2nd Trio op. 100 is one of the last compositions in his extensive chamber music catalog. Its moving slow motion has been used many times as film music, the most famous being Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon.
