Trio Dor brings together traditional music from Eastern Europe with a sensitive and inhabited contemporary expression. Its name, derived from the Romanian word dor, evokes desire and nostalgia — emotions that are central to the repertoires explored. Founded by clarinetist Vlad Weverbergh, Trio Dor brings together musicians motivated by the desire to make the melodies, rhythms and patterns of Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Balkan traditions resonate differently. Through intimate and nuanced instrumentation, the ensemble focuses on the essence of these traditions, revealing their sonic richness and emotional intensity transmitted orally from generation to generation. The energy and spontaneity of folklore are combined with improvisation and collective listening, which are essential. Driven by in-depth research and respect for cultural roots, melancholy, joy and virtuosity will inhabit this concert, a living territory where tradition will find new impetus between memory and modernity.
