The Sinking of the Titanic

This show reinvents the iconic score by British composer Gavin Bryars, The Sinking of the Titanic, for live ensemble, video projection and spatial sound. For over an hour, the audience is drawn into a striking meditation on loss, stamina, and memory. Little by little, sounds and images melt into the depths. Performed without a conductor, the performance fully engages the HermesEnsemble musicians, immersed in the visual universe of the work. Lise Bruyneel's artistic proposal highlights this slow movement of engulfment, both sonorous and scenographic. The music then becomes space, breath and matter. What emerges is a living requiem, a contemporary elogy that sublimates historical tragedy into a poetic resonance of rare intensity.
