Designed based on the canvases of the painter Viktor Hartmann, Mussorgsky composes his “Pictures at an Exhibition” as a kind of walk, a pretext for phantasmagorical visions: the evocation of a desolate ruin (Il Vecchio Castello) next to the heavy convoy dragged by an ox (Bydlo) the macabre scenes (Catacombs) announce the appearance of a witch (Baba-Yaga) before the work does not end on a monumental note (The Great Gate of Kiev). This show, originally created for the Philharmonie de Paris, combines piano, narration and visual projections to immerse the viewer in 19th century Russia.
