KARAVAN & Simon Leleux

Bach Meets East

Founded in 2024 by Lorenzo Gatto, the Karavan ensemble sees music as a journey, where rhythm carries the story and sound becomes a meeting place — as evidenced by their first album Open Road.In Stavelot, the ensemble is presenting the Bach meets East project for the first time in Belgium for the first time in Belgium, the ensemble presents the Bach meets East project, alongside violinist Ambi Subramaniam and percussionist Simon Leleux. This encounter gives rise to a living dialogue between two musical worlds. At the heart of the program, a rereading of Bach's Second Partita for solo violin. The famous Chaconne becomes an open space, where writing naturally extends into improvisation. The lines evolve, the rhythms breathe differently, and new colors appear — until music that is both unexpected and familiar is heard.
