Gaëlle Solal, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie

RIO

On the occasion of the release of her CD RIO, Gaëlle Solal invites you to an anthology of premieres to discover one of the major musical lineages born in Rio de Janeiro. The journey begins with new arrangements by pianeiro Ernesto Nazareth, celebrating the blending of scholarly and popular music. Back to the 19th century with the long forgotten Chiquinha Gonzaga, the first Brazilian composer and conductor. Then it's time for the strings with Carlos Gomes, Chiquinha's friend and the first Brazilian to achieve worldwide success with his operas. Then Heitor Villa-Lobos and the cadenza of his concerto, a veritable ode to the Amazon rainforest before launching into the 21st century with Clarice Assad and his concerto O Saci-Pererê, a vibrant work waiting to be discovered.
